Purpose of the ITR PI meeting
The Information Technology Research (ITR) program is a unique, interdisciplinary program at the National Science Foundation (NSF). It is designed to fund innovative information technology scientific research and education. The ITR Principal Investigator (PI) meeting is being held to assess and learn from the experiences of ITR research. This meeting will foster an exchange of information and collaboration experiences among ITR PIs and NSF Program Officers to learn the outcomes of the ITR program. Two main questions are (1) whether there are significant research contributions within the ITR themes (software design and quality, scalable information infrastructure, high-end computing, workforce, and socio-economic impacts of IT), and (2) whether the ITR program is serving the appropriate role in ensuring that grantees meaningfully and effectively collaborate across disciplines of science and engineering.

Organizers of the ITR PI meeting
Peter Freeman, CISE AD, and Suzanne Iacono, NSF director of the ITR program, initiated this meeting.
Sara Kiesler, Carnegie Mellon University, will lead the meeting with Jonathon Cummings, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. If you have questions about the meeting agenda please contact Sara (kiesler@cs.cmu.edu) or Jonathon (cummings@mit.edu).
